description: This anomalous cantata, written to celebrate a circumcision ceremony, was commissioned by a wealthy Jewish family from southern France in the late seventeenth century. It is full of joyous choruses, arias, and dances. Three versions are available: a full score, a piano/vocal score and chorus parts. The published score has been transposed down to suit modern performers. A version in the original key is also available.
