description: A dramatic oratorio based on the prophecies of Isaiah regarding Jerusalem. The work begins with an ominous warning, progresses to condemnation, then comfort and finally rejoicing. Choral parts are somewhat challenging, but not overly difficult. It was commissioned by the Interracial Fellowship Chorus of New York in 1959. The last movement, “Break forth into Joy,” has been published separately and may be performed as a stand-alone piece.
